Candles used in black rites that have absorbed too much evil energy and taken on a life of their own. These waxy foes first appeared in Enix's 1992 Dragon Warrior V: The Bride of the Heavens Super Famicom video game. Said title was also later ported to the Sony Playstation 2 and Nintendo DS systems. The enemies Demon Candle and Light Boy share the same game sprite, but differ in color/capabilities (recycling enemies is a common programming practice).

While they generally prefer to carve up their victims with the knives they always carry, Demon Candles can also charbroil opponents with the Blaze spell. These monsters have 20 hit points (HP) and each one that you defeat will net your party $11 and 13 experience points. Unlike some other creatures, Demon Candles cannot be recruited into your party (due in no small part to the fact that you encounter them very early in the game, long before the protagonist becomes a Beast Tamer and gains the ability to befriend monsters).

Materials:
Newsprint, Kleenex, white glue, crazy glue, plastic, aluminum foil (no structural significance, a piece of it got stuck inside the figure and I couldn't get it out again, so, I just left it in there), and acrylic paint.

Dimensions:
4.8 cm/1.9 in. x 5.9 cm/2.3 in. (widest point x highest point)

Time:
Hard to say. I began sculpting this figure on July 28, 2009 and finished assembling/painting it on August 20, 2009. However, it didn't take anywhere near that long to make--I bought over a dozen video games on the 31st, and, when I go on a massive gaming binge like that, my productivity takes a steep nosedive. I'm usually pretty good about keeping records of what days I do, and don't, work on a given figure, but that went out the window completely this time. As it's a relatively-simple cartoony character, I can't imagine it would have taken me more than a few days to finish otherwise.
