I first became intrigued and interested in this character back in the fall of '87, some 12 years after his debut in Marvel Comics. At that time I had no earthly idea he had fought the Hulk and that some 22 years later I would be making a custom action figure of him. I had read his entry in the OHOTMU(offical handbook of the marvel universe) in TBOTD(the book of the dead) and to make a long story short he caused me some angst because of the Greek Omega symbol he bore on the palms of his hands and as a headband. I almost got in fight during basic training in the army because I drew that symbol on my chest with a magic marker and somebody didn't like it. So, that's basically what got me interested in this dumb son of a pretty girl and almost beat up...lmao!!
I suppose this new comic that was introduced back in '75 needed something to spice it up, so what better way to sell a few issues??? Put the Incredible Hulk on the cover and it's good as gold, right MARV WOLFMAN?? (editor of Marvel at the time)

Synopsis: Discharged from the hospital, James-Michael Starling goes to stay in Hells Kitchen with his new friends Ruth and Amber. Meanwhile, Omega, lost in New York, is shot while stopping the robbery of a pawnshop. Gramps, the pawnbroker, hides Omega from the police and tends to his wound, offering the strong silent hero a job. The next day, Amber takes James-Michael to a soda shop to taste his first egg cream. Outside, a trio of thugs are harassing a derelict when their intended victim surprises them by transforming into the Hulk and fighting back. Omega appears to battle the Green Giant and drops a load of cars on Hulk. Jade Jaws, however, is merely annoyed, but the fight ends on a startling note: Electro appears and delivers electric blasts to the antagonists. While the Hulk recovers, Electro carries off the unconscious Omega. The final mystery: when Omega was knocked out, James-Michael went into a coma as well.

Comments: Hulks only appearance in this short-lived (10 issues) title; the saga of James-Michael Starling and Omega was concluded in Defenders 76 and 77. Description: OMEGA THE UNKNOWN was an experimental title conceived and written by Steve Gerber & Mary Skrenes, which ran for ten issues in 1976 and '77. It centered on two mysteries: The first was Omega, a powerful, mute hero who escapes from a war-torn world in a stolen spacecraft and comes to Earth. The second mystery was James-Michael Starling, a twelve-year-old genius, plagued by nightmares about Omega and who feels the pain when the hero is injured, a boy raised in isolation and who only discovered that his parents were robots when they were "killed" in a car crash. So as James-Michael tried to fit into a Hell's Kitchen school as an ordinary boy and Omega wandered the streets of New York City battling crime and protecting James-Michael, they (and the readers) tried to understand the mysterious link between them. The title was a poor seller, possibly because it was too odd for most readers. Gerber and Skrenes concluded it with Omega being mistakenly shot by police at the end of issue ten, without resolving any of the mysteries. The story was concluded in THE DEFENDERS 76 & 77 (1979) where it was revealed that Omega and James-Michael were prototypes of a race of artificial warriors created by the alien Protarians. At the end of the story, James-Michael, who has inherited Omega's powers destroys himself to save Earth.

Recipe...

I took a DCSH Superman (which I hope the head isn't to small, but it looks like it may be a tad small to me) and sanded it down and filled in the peg holes and the torso and glued the head down to prevent any paint rub there.
I sculpted the wrist bands and the boots and the hair and the chest.
the cape was yellow and red cloth.
the left hand was from a tna wrestler
I sprayed it with black primer and then handpainted and airbrushed it.
