The bizarre protagonist of Sega's 1991 Decap Attack Genesis video game. Said title is actually a heavily modified version of the 1990 Japanese Sega Megadrive cartridge, Magical Hat no Buttobi Tabo! Daibouken (Magical Hat Flying Turbo Adventure), which had similar game play, but featured a completely different cast of characters. The evil Max D. Cap has escaped from the Underworld and has set his sights on conquering Body Island by splitting it into seven pieces. In desperation, the mad scientist Dr. Frank N. Stein cobbles together Chuck D. Head, hoping that his undead creation will be able to thwart Max D. Cap and return the fractured island back to its original state. Chuck's primary means of attack is the face nestled inside his abdomen, which can extend outwards a few feet to chomp on enemies. He can also destroy foes by repeatedly stomping on them as he lands from a jump. If you find the skull power-up (break open the stone totems scattered around any given level to uncover it, or other useful items), Chuck will then be able to toss the bony head about in a boomerang-like fashion--until you suffer a hit and lose it that is. Obviously, this macabre weapon is the inspiration for Chuck's ridiculous name, as well as the title of the game itself. Materials: Newsprint, Kleenex, white/hot glue, wire twist ties, a paper clip, nail polish, and acrylic paint. Dimensions*: (* No accessories attached to the body.) 3.4 cm/1.3 in. x 5.8 cm/2.3 in. (widest point x highest point) Articulation: Sixteen points: Shoulders (2), elbows (4), wrists (2), hips (2), knees (4), and ankles (2). Additionally, the skull accessory can rotate when attached to the body. Time: Roughly three days; July 14-16, 2009. ![]() |
