for the first 30 years of the comic (estimate, probably a bad one...) iron man had different suits for just about everything. space, arctic, deep sea, I think even an underground/lava one. in the late 80's, early 90's he swirched to modular armor which could do it all. this is actuall a re imagining of this armor :

I think this style of suit only showed up in one issue when he dived on the Titanic. The way they went through suits of armors it was probably outdated by the end of the issue lol. Looks really good.

Pretty sweet design--I always thought the regular suit could withstand some serious water pressure though (I seem to recall him doing some deep sea adventuring in the comics with it).
