Thought it'd be really cool to see this behemoth space entity compressed to a 3 3/4 inch scale figure. As valuable a tool the airbrush is, especially with a project like this one, decided to go commando and paint all the planets and constellations by hand. Using different sized brushes and taping them over the figure produced different sized stars. Adding a bit of water over the surface and allowing gravity to play its part, the colors bled into one another, creating interesting space scapes. Made the cape from vinyl and cut the head piece from sturdy clamshell plastic. A final coat of sealant was sprayed over to protect the artwork. The semi-gloss finish really added some punch to the colors, giving a sense of depth to the blackness of space. Don't know if it's just the imagination playing tricks or what, but somehow new cosmic patterns seem to appear out of nowhere with each viewing.
