Battle Angel was inspired by a painting in Heavy Metal magazine by Tariq Raheem.
I assume Battle Angel is a cyborg assassin. Seen here she is getting her system recharge from some sort of regeneration station with hook-ups plugging into her armored suit. In the future, humans will have the ability to live for longer peroids of time due to the science and technology of bionics and nano research enabling mankind to swap out aging limbs and organs with futuristic weaponry and heavy metal all the while the brain lives in some macrabe machine or another.
