Using his powers Burner became a professional criminal. Burner was recruited by Magneto into joining his Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants and on his first mission with the team he battled Captain America. After Magneto abandoned his team they re-named themselves Mutant Force, Mandrill employed the team in order for them to help aid him in his planned to dominate the U.S. During this they battled Valkyrie, Hellcat, Wasp, Yellowjacket and Nighthawk. Burner then fought the Hulk with Mutant Force, after being enlisted by the government into government service. The group then changed into The Resistants and Burner changed his name into Crucible.
