In some of the video game art done by non-Marvel artists, the tendency is to draw them more rounded then flat, Also in some of Wolverines early appearances in X-men they did the same but they also drew them curving down

you also get that knife edged look that you can't get with the paper clips. But I do agree, it is easier, but not as comic book accurate, in my opinion at least....

I'd have to disagreed with the paperclip claws. The bobbie pins won't bend and look more like the claws from the comics. I've never seen Wolverine have perfectly cylindrical claws.
