This is a custom made action figure based on the Pinhead character from Clive Barker's "Hellraiser" film series. I've created it from parts of different figures, Aves Sculpt, super glue, Vallejo acrylic paint, and sealant.
This figure also has a custom made base/stand, weapon, and magnetic-attaching puzzle box accessory.



::Recipe:
x1 NECA Series 1 HELLRAISER Pinhead figure (head, torso, waist-belt piece, saw accessory)
x1 Pair of arms + hands from a LotR figure
x1 Forearms (cut/reattached) from another LotR figure
x1 NECA Chronicles of Riddick Necromonger figure (pelvis/legs)
x1 LotR Series 1 Wringwraith (flexible skirt)
x1 LotR Witch King Ringwraith (chain weapon)
x1 McFarlane Pirates of the Caribbean Skeleton figure (Base, skull)

::Supplies:
x2 Neonium magnets (x1 donut magnet, x1 5mm magnet) from gaussboys[dot]com
-A good cordless dremel
-Hair dryer
-Gel-type Superglue
-Vallejo paints and Matte Varnish
-Citadel Glossy Varnish and Matte Spray Sealant
-Apoxie Sculpt
-Sanding Sponge
-Hobby plaster (for faux-rocky ground base)


::How to:

Wanting a super-articulated HELLRAISER character, but finding none, I decided to make my own.

For the figure's base:
-I dremmeled off all the gold coins sculpted into the base, and pulled off the 1/2 gold cup. I also pried off the clear plastic 'water'.
-Painted the INSIDE of the clear plastic 'water' section with 2-3 washes of red, sepia/brownish paint. This gives the great effect of the water actually being blood. Ick, eh?
-I used a type of hobby plaster (you can buy it at model train stores) to cover the area where I dremmeled out the coins, etc. This was sanded after it dried.
-Superglued the blood-water to the base.
-Dremmed / hobby knifed out the McFarlane skeleton-skull, and super glued it to the base.
-Painted the entire base in black-blue, and dry brushed on two passes of gray and a bloody-sepia tone to help it blend with the blood-water.

For the actual figure:

-Using the Head/Torso from an existing Hellraiser figure by NECA, I removed the empty skirt (the orig figure didn't have legs!) and arms.
-Detached the legs from the Necromonger figure, and built a spacer out of Aves sculpt to attach the 2 pieces, and preserve waist articulation.
-Using superglue, I attached the Ringwraith skirt to the dried/painted spacer, and the rubber section from the original figure (cut out of the orig. skirt) on top of that.
I left slits up the sides of the skirt to preserve leg movement.
-Filled in the gap at the waist left by the skirt/waist rubber piece (it wasn't a perfect size, but was close - I just bridged the gap with Aves sculpt)

-Using a hair dryer on any parts that needed swapping (1 min on each part to make it temporarily pliable):
--Removed the original figure's arms (they pop out of the solid rubber-plastic torso, no cutting necessary)
--Spliced (using superglue and reinforced with sections of paperclip like steel rebar) the detailed LotR forearms with the other LotR arms.
--Attached arms to the body after heating it up to accept the new arms.
--Installed the 2 neonium magnets into both the palm (a small piece of a donuts magnet) and another into the original NECA Hellraiser puzzlebox accessory (5mm magnet)
(This keeps the accessory on the hand without the need for unsightly pegs)
--Removed bottom part of the Ball-chain weapon so it can slip into the figure hand.
--Added a bloody splatter to the weapon accessory.
--Painted, dry brushed, and sealed the figure, it's accessories and base.

::Why this figure?
This figure is the result of a childhood fascination with scary thing and VHS rental stores.

Monsters always lived in that forbidden area of the rental store. It smelled like popcorn, or more likely, B.O and dirty carpets. In one place called "Couch potato Video" where I grew up, there was one particular poster featuring Pinhead. The image stuck with me for years. Recently, I got around to watching the series - it's neat, gory, and silly at all once. In some ways, I like the idea of the Cenobites better than their execution (ha! pun!) in film. After reading a lot of Vertigo comics (and their focus on the Heaven/Hell concept and characters), I decided that the perfect demon to make would be that one from the scary posters: Pinhead.
