October 31, 1981. In most universes it was a normal Halloween but in the Marvel universe it was the start of the Days Of Future Past. Senator Robert Kelly is assassinated by the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and the world is thrown into chaos. However thanks to the help of a future Kitty Pryde the X-men are able to alter history...or so they think. Just hours after they save Kelly he is assassinated by a mutant-Sentinel hybrid named Bishop and the world again is thrown into chaos. All out war is declared on mutants and in response Magneto destroys major cities around the world unaware of the implications as the nuclear war that results. Forge is on a trip to visit his old Tony Stark and dispel rumors that Stark is part of the newest Sentinel project when the bombs hit. To save himself Forge uses a prototype armor known as War Machine and sentinel technology to create an armor to contain his mind while his body heals. 20 years later he roams the wasteland in the armor, his body entombed in the remains of the X-mansion, trying to restore order and save all life from the growing threat of erradication by the now insane Mastermold computer system that is slowly enveloping the world through heavily armed mechanized armies. Only a few nations were untouched by the war and they now struggle against mutants rushing the borders for safety and the threat of the Sentinel menace.
