In terms of the character, I don't actually know a ton about this guy. I remember thinking for the longest that he was a Ghost Rider, much like Phantom Rider. But, apparently he's just a dude. I believe he was created in the 70s to be retroactively added to the Invaders. On the more personal side, let's reminisce a bit. Just over 12 years ago, I first started listing pieces to sell. Was at a point when I had to make some immediate work decisions and just decided "let's give it a shot and see what happens." At first, not bad. I got some responses, and even the feedback was good. One year later, it was Injustice and Man of Steel that really put me on the map. But, before that, it was Blazing Skull that gave me the confidence to fully commit to selling. My first auction piece that actually went high. Overnight, I went from "this is some ok side money" to "wow, I can actually do this." Two years later, I was full time. And that doesn't happen without this guy. So, I'm glad I got a chance to revisit him. At a point when I'm looking into other things to move into, it was great to get to look back on the piece that essentially got me started.
Upper torso, arms, and legs were from Hyperion. Lower torso was Wonder Man. Head was some super old skull cast. No clue. Sculpted the belt, gloves, collar, and the flames. Full repaint, and all done!
