(I know it's not exactly original, but customs of these characters are so rare that it couldn't fit anywhere else.) "Meltman! With the power to... um... MELT!" For those not in the loop, back in the '90s there was a show I loved watching, called "KABLAM!" The show was made up of different 5-minute cartoon skits, one of which was a little something called "Action League Now." The cast consisted entirely of - you guessed it - action figures. Ever since I first laid eyes on those toys getting beaten and battered around on-screen, I wanted to get my hands on some of my own. The Burger King toys just weren't doing it for me, so I've been doing some research on how to make them myself. But I didn't know where to start... until now. For the base, I cobbled together a whole action figure out of old GI Joe parts (O-ring and back screw included). I then sculpted on it with hot glue to give it that beady, melted look, gave it a few coats of matte black Rust-Oleum spray paint, then drybrushed some blue, brown and tan Testors paint onto it. And voila, Meltman. One important tip when hot-gluing a figure like this - do each part SEPARATELY and always test-fit it to make sure the glue doesn't affect the articulation. If it does, just trim away at it with a razor blade, or you can just peel the glue right off the parts. Also, make sure the figure parts you're using aren't too bulky. ...Or special to you. Yeah, that should work. ![]() |
