I didn't watch The Eternals movie but I bought 3 of the figures because I thought they looked nice and they were on huge discount so I thought I might as well. While I was planning the recipes for some JLA and JSA figures by going through my fodder bins, I came across the Icarus figure and suddenly realized that his costume had very close colors to Dr. Fate, being primarily blue and gold. Then I realized that Icarus having a loincloth could still work for Fate since McF's Fate has a loincloth, and the inscribed details of Icarus' costume could be justified as spells and runes embroidered onto Fate's costume. And without having to worry about doing joint prep for paint rub if I used Icarus or needing to repaint it at all, it became a no-brainer for me to make this a different version of Fate's costume. The only things I repainted on the Icarus base are making the forearms and the boots gold. I mixed a gold to match the inscribed details to paint the collar piece, and painted the cape a different color gold from the collar piece to set them apart, and also mixed the gold of the inside part of the cape with straight yellow to flatten its metallic sheen more in order for that part of the cape not to vie for attention from the metallics of the figure when seen from the front. This became one of my favorite customs because it was so easy to do and ended up looking better than my other customs that I did a lot of work on.
