Mastermind was, in my opinion, quite a disappointing figure. They gave him a terrible choice in outfit colors, no boots, and an alternate head that looked even more out of place on that body. However, I was thankful for it, because I knew I could whip something more classic up for my Mutants shelf.

I knew I'd need a brown suit for Mastermind's original, pre-Hellfire Club look, and Mobius from "Loki" was the obvious choice. I heated and removed a jacket from a Luis figure, since I knew the closed, regular suit jacket would look much better for the character. With him being a manipulator of the mind, I knew Mastermind would benefit greatly from the expressive hands that movie Professor X came with. For the cloak, it took some thinking, but I finally thought of ol' D'Spayre. I trimmed the lower half off and resculpted the front of this would-be cloak with Milliput; I wanted it to be sculpted in such a way that he could raise his hands up to his head and stretched out front, so as to better demonstrate his powers. I used a UV light-cured resin to sculpt the tie for it. For his regular and cloak ties I painted them both matte black, and once the resculpted cloak was dried, I painted it and the jacket overlay and arms a matching brown. The cloak needed some repair work due to a crack that kept forming down the front, so once it was held in place with Krazy Glue, I used Modpodge to help seal it, and I painted on another layer brown once all was said and done. I'm pretty happy with how he came out, and now he's a figure I can proudly display on my Mutants shelf.
