Sylux was always a dream figure for me since I played Metroid Prime Hunters on the DS. With Metroid Prime 4 around the corner (hopefully), I thought, what better time to get this fella in the collection. Sylux began with a rigged model of Sylux provided by TheBackspace125 on Reddit. After printing the model, I sawed off the appropriate limbs and repositioned them with Apoxy Sculpt. I wasn't pleased with his hands so I used some spare Revoltech Venom hands to give him clenched fists. Using small plastic rods, I fashioned a basic rig for attaching the limbs so they could articulate. While my original vision was a bit more complex, I'm satisfied with his final skeleton. After a nice black prime job, I blended three different paints, Navy Blue, Blue Chromecast and Green/purple shift spray onto the figure to give it that Galactic Federation glean and shimmer. I mixed up some green paint for his lit components. He actually stands up remarkably well, though for safety, I put him on a stand. And boy does he stand tall! Our girl Samus has her work cut out for her!
