This was a spur of the moment idea that came from trying to use existing parts and seeing a Gundam model at the store. Originally I had this mountain base I had 3D printed but ended up leaving around. After moving it again and again, I decided I wanted to use it for a diorama and after seeing the Gundam model, it all started to come together. The end result was making a destroyed Gundam, its final resting place being a small lake at the base of the mountains. Again, the base was 3D printed, then covered in resin to smooth out the print lines, painted and then given foilage. The Gundam model was positioned how I wanted it, given damage, painted with wear and then superglued in the empty lake before I used clear resin to make the water effects. The model actually holds a small battery activated light so the figure does light up with light coming through the various holes. Finally, I placed the broken shield and the family of deer grazing their way around the lake. Overall it measures about 11 inches by 11 inches for the base, about 5 inches from base to the top of the tallest "mountain" and the Gundam figure is about 4 inches tall. ![]() |
