So, since I am a big fan of the classic Superboy/Adventures of Superboy TV Series, as well as the TV Tie-In Comic that DC produced back in the 90s, decided that I wanted to do a series of figures based upon the alternate Superboys that appeared in the 1992 Adventures of Superboy comic special. This is the first of six alternate Superboys in the series (The last picture I will upload will show the page upon which this version appeared in the special).
So, in order to do this figure, I decided to re-use the recipe that I created for my previous Superboy TV series figure, I took a DC Universe Classics/Signature Super Powers 30th Anniversary Superman figure, and used the boil and pop method to remove his head. Next, I used my Dremel to sand down the ball joint attached to the Superman figure's neck into a cylindrical post. Once the cylindrical post was formed, I next used my Dremel to partially hollow out the head of a DC Universe Classics All-Star New 52 Superman. Next, I mixed up a small batch of Milliput and jammed it into the newly formed cavity inside the head, and, while the Milliput was still soft, I jammed the cylindrical post attached to the neck of the Superman figure into the Milliput to create a small hole in the center of the head cavity and let it dry. Next, I test fit the head onto the neck, and satisfied with how the head and neck fit together, I set them aside and started repainting the head with a home brewed flesh tone paint that closely matched the skin of the DC Universe Classics/Signature Super Powers 30th Anniversary Superman figure and Testors Model Masters Flat Black for the hair and eyebrows. When the paint dried, I applied two generous coats of Flat Clear to the head. When the Flat Clear had finally dried, I glued the head in place atop the neck post. With the new head now attached, I glued new symbols onto his chest and cape (both symbols were made by hand at a larger size, and then photocopied and shrunk to proper size...however, unlike previous hand drawn symbols I had done before, these are drawn to match the symbols worn by the alternate version of Superboy in the comic special showcased on the final uploaded picture), and TA-DA...one of the alternate Superboys from the 1992 Adventures of Superboy TV Tie-In comic special!!!
