The infamous "Sorry I'm Dead" "boss" from the NES game Monster Party. For years it was debated what it actually was... the manual calls it "Giant Spider" but that's certainly an error since it calls another boss (technically two) - the tick-like thing that was originally based on... well.. The Thing... "Giant Spider" and the second one "Giant Spider II" and they look nothing like this. People also pointed out that it looked more like a dinosaur/lizard with bloated lungs and its tongue hanging out.

Many decades later, someone found out that it was based on an old Bandai model kit toy, called Torigaran, from their "Gegebo Majū" line. An obscure freaking reference even in comparison, especially since the game never came out in Japan! Anyway, I tracked one down on a Japanese site, had it shipped off to me, and painted it up to better reflect the in-game palette. Unfortunately, the body broke when I tried to put the legs in, so I had to glue all below the belt together, but I shouldn't have expected much from a model older than my brother that felt brittle in the hand anyway. I also didn't put the lung pumping mechanism in (a wind-up device) because I didn't need it.

Overall other than breaking it, I am very happy with how it turned out. Monster Party didn't play great, but it was very memorable in how weird it was.
