I had this kit sitting unfinished for years. There was a time I started working on it when Kevin Conroy was going to be at a show about 14 hours away. It would have been quite a drive, but I was planning on making it. As the show was getting closer I knew there was no way I was going. I stopped working on the figure. Fast forward a couple years, I'm not really paying to much attention to the convention scene. I mean they've gotten so expensive to get in, autographs & pics with the guests are ridiculously over priced & the long lines even make it less worthwhile. But last minute I find out Kevin Conroy is going to be at Wizard World in my city. And an out of town friend is going to be a vendor so I can get in for free with his vendor's pass. I bust my tail to get this figure finished. As a matter of fact the Saturday of the show I am still printing the insert for the figure & sealing it up. I'm excited & I head to Wizard world about 1 in the afternoon. I get to the BTAS booth & only Loren Lester is there. He tells me Kevin had to go & will be back tomorrow. I'm disappointed. I mean the voice of Nightwing/Robin is cool, but he's no Kevin Conroy. The definitive Batman. The voice that I hear in my head every time I read a Batman comic. I would've been pretty upset if it wasn't for my buddie's pass. Because yes, I get in free the next day also. Sunday morning hits & I make sure to get there at open. I'm not going to miss Kevin this time. I get in there I;m waiting around by the BTAS booth for like an hour & still no Kevin Conroy. I'm really starting to get irritated that he's not showing up today. Finally someone comes to the booth & I politely ask when Kevin is going to get here. They tell me he has a panel in a half an hour & hell be at the booth after that. So Of course I goto the panel & race back to the booth afterwards. There's already a line formed so I get in & wait my turn. Meanwhile everyone in line is looking at the figure in my hand & wondering where I got it. When I tell them it's a custom they are all pretty amazed & want one. Finally I get up to Kevin & he's amazed & wants the figure. Which I brought for him to sign. I explain to him that I brought this for him to sign but I could probably make more of them. He signs my figure, we take a pic together, talks with me for a little while. Before I walk away he gives me his card so I can contact him about making some more of these figures for his friends & family. Loren Lester over hears our conversation & he hands me his card because he wants me to make a figure of him. And he's only asking for one. It's pretty cool when you meet your heroes & they are impressed by something you've done!

While the painting and packaging looks nice, let's all be aware to credit the original artist all the time: Cason Pilliod sculpted/created this figure and gave one to Stew. Casts were made, yadda yadda, which is great, but Mr. Conroy already had asked Cason for a handful and that happened. YEARS AGO. Look at the page for "Inanimate Objects" and read the story of how Mr. Conroy (and a handful of his unnamed friends from the show) received this figure on completely different packaging, painted and sculpted by a completely different artist, years ago

It may have happened to Cason years ago, but it happened to me also. I was seriously just going to have Kevin sign the figure. But Kevin & Loren both asked me to make figures for them. True story, this happened a few years ago. History repeated itself. I never would've guessed.
