Having been inspired by GeekSummit's John Byrne Lex Luthor Guard figure, and having already done one that was very similar in recipe to his, I decided that I wanted to make one that was a bit more comic accurate to the way that John Byrne had presented it in Man of Steel #5 back in 1986.

To do this figure, I took the DC Direct Crisis on Infinite Earths Series 2 Lex Luthor figure and removed the armor cowl. Next, I used the boil and pop method to pop off the existing Lex Luthor head. With the Lex head now removed, I took the head from a DC Universe Classics Doctor Mid-Nite and, after mixing up a small batch of Green Stuff, I created the stripe that was attached to the helmet's goggles and went back over the head from the bridge of the nose. When the Green stuff dried, I sanded it smooth, and then used my Dremel to slightly hollow out the inside of the head and sand the ball joint still attached to the neck of the Lex figure into a cylindrical post. Next, I mixed up a small batch of Milliput and jammed it into the newly formed cavity inside the head, and, while the Milliput was still soft, I jammed the cylindrical post attached to the neck of the Lex figure into the Milliput to create a small hole in the center of the head cavity and let it dry. Once the Milliput inside the head was dry, I commenced a full repaint of the head with Testors Model Master S Green Gloss (for the helmet), Citadel Paints Xereus Purple (for the goggles and stripe), Citadel Paints Stormfrost Silver (for the lenses in the goggles), and Testors Acryl Peach for the exposed portion of the lower face. When all the paint had dried, I gave the head two generous coats of Flat Clear.

Next, I glued the head in place atop the neck with Testors modeling cement, and once the glue had dried I test fit the armor cowl back onto the upper body (unfortunately, the armor cowl did not fit exactly right back on the figure, and the goggles were too wide for the gap in the center of the armor cowl, so I to used my Dremel to gently and carefully widen the gap until the cowl now fit properly). Lastly, I glued the armor cowl back in place atop the shoulders with a little Crazy Glue, and TA-DA...a comic accurate Lexcorp Battlesuit as it appeared in Man of Steel#5 (December, 1986)!!!

Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.
