I saw a lot of people on Instagram using the new ML "movie venom" as a comic venom by simply painting the symbol on him. I got that movie figure in hand, and thought it was awful. He's awkward tall, skinny legs, and his muscle mass is a joke for any venom comic fan, you know that isn't comic venom. His scale is way off with other figures next to him.

So I looked around a little, and saw a while back Poundz978 did a great venom custom on a Caliban BAF!! The upper body has the correct muscle mass here. I sanded down the joints on his bicep swivel and ab crunch to avoid paint rub, as these areas are a bit tight. I used the Monster BAF venom head and thought size wise it worked well.

I think the monster venom body is too big, old venoms are too small... and movie venom is just a joke for comic scale. This Caliban Venom is the best. The Caliban mold is impressive, and I'm surprised they don't use it more. I think it could even work for a larger Warpath that we all want. I've seen some people use it for Sabertooth and thats impressive too.

I used Testors gloss black and Testors gloss white. Painting those thin lines on the symbol was the hardest part by far. One of calibans thumbs sticks up awkwardly, so I heated, bent down, and held with wires in the spot I wanted until it cooled.

Bottom Line: Comic Venom should be bigger.

I thought I was the only one who thought movie venom was super elongated and weird looking! Awesome custom! I prefer omega red's mold best for venom, although it is not buff enough.

I agree with almost everything you've said. Don't like the molds that everyone has been using for Venom, specially 616 eddie Brock Venom. Omega red's just to small and a little skinny. His torso is just flat, his arms are not elongated enough to look humanoid, and it's a really pain in the ass to paint the logo without touching the butterfly joints. if you paint above these, when you move them, it will ruin the aesthetic of the spider logo, making it look distorted and not comic accurate. Movie Venom is just lanky, the size is actually pretty decent, having In consideration that omega, hyperion, and hercules are to freaking short. But he has really bad proportions. His arms are supposed to be a little longer than an average human's arms. but those arms from movie Venom are just way too Long. and his legs. omg. wtf did happened with his legs??? Movie Venom fig has texture throughout his whole body. that's definitely not accurate for comic Venom. It's really cringy that no one sands down the texture on his body, and nobody changes the feet. I'm really bummed out when they use hercules for Venom, I mean, his torso is not wide enough to look imposing, his shoulders are hella weird, and it's to difficult to prep the body (as well as omega red) and you have to sacrifice other figure to give him appropriate legs. so all of those molds are a definite no no for me. My perfect body bases for Venom are colossus from the warlock wave (I think that buck is perfect when he is not angry and he is just relaxed or he is on his normal base form) and apocalypse body. I like apocalypse's body for a really angry Venom. When he is mad, he grows in size and musculature. I think caliban doesn't work as well as apocalypse buck does. I feel caliban is pudgy, Which is not fitting for him. He needs to have a slim waist, wide torso, beefy legs, and muscular arms. That's something that apocalypse resembles better (at least that's what I think) but this caliban mold is better than any of the molds that I've mentioned before (not counting the ones I mentioned that I think are perfect for Venom tho 😅)

Can't say I agree with your opinion on the movie venom, but the Caliban does work well as one of the many versions of the comic Venom. If you're talking about his first appearance then this one is far too big. That said, the head is too large for the body. Look at pictures of bodybuilders and hulk. Their bodies get bigger, but their heads stay the same size.

I made the same mistake when I made my Venom using Space Venom as a base. Trust me, the smaller head from the earlier ML Venom works much better for the proportions.

Its a BAF body, so it scales better with BAF size heads, I tried putting smaller heads on it, it doesn't look good.

The Caliban BAF really brings out some better proportion for bigger characters. Nicely done Venom!
