So by luck I ran across a SR 13” Superman with no costume. Just boots, fists and stand. That was perfect because I’m up to my teets in fabric and I’ve wanted to do this figure for a minute. Luckily I hade one swatch of uncut blue left over from my recent run of projects. So I made an extra large template for the 13” figure and while my paint dried in the boots I got to work cobbling parts for the rest of the costume.

First thing I did was to augment the headsculpt by beefing up the hairdo a bit with Apoxie Sculpt. I may have gone too far but it was the first thing I did. I could still revisit.

I really love how the emblem worked out. Everything is hand cut and fitted so that was new for me but being a little larger definitely helped. Once assembled everything was ironed onto the shape of the chest as one piece.

Shorts, belt, emblem and cape made from vinyl coated spandex in red, black and deep red. The belt buckle gave me a bit of a challenge. I didn’t want to sculpt one because that was going to mess with my flow. I was really on a roll with this completing nearly everything within a day. I stole a cast from my 18” NECA Christopher Reeve Superman. That worked out great because it had that slight oversized look.
