I really liked the Revenge of the Sith Black Series 3.75” figure and it’s articulation and after adding the cloak and lower robe from the Tantive IV battlepack he became my go to Vader for photo shoots. However, whilst it is a definitive Vader from that film, it is not a definitive STAR WARS (1977) Vader. I own most of the Vader’s released and when Rogue One came out I got a Vader from that believing the Helmet would be perfect for a 1977 Vader custom but it was not. Solo has the best Darth Vader figure for the Helmet. So I took the arms and legs/ waist of the black series 3 figure, the head from the Solo series Vader, the torso of the 30th anniversary Vader figure and the cape cloak and lightsaber hilt that was stuck on the leg of the battle pack Vader. I had to dremmel the arm holes in the 30th anniversary Vader and Inser the armholes for the arms of the black series Vader. I did this because a lot of Vader arms have this awful hinge sticking out or cavity left unlike the perfect pauldrons the black series has. I joined the Lower leg pelvis section to the 30th and allowed a swivel joint. The hands in my opinion are too small and not glossy enough. So I carved up the black series hands to their basic movement components and inserted into the gloves of the 30th anniversary Vader and the wrists of the black series one. A lot of dremmeing was involved to do that. I removed the saber from the leg of the battle pack Vader, dremmeled a hole and added a peg at the top so his saber can hang like it does in the film emitter side up. Then after watching all the Vader scenes I painstakingly copies the paint job with a white button then 3 gunmetal ones for example on his breathing box and silver then fine red lines on the other silver buttons above. I also painted the glossy lower beneath the belt guard as it is matte in film but sepperate not moulder like so many figures seem to be. Then the eyes had to be the right red that looks black from some angles but is clearly a deep red. Using citidel paints for all parts then going over with a varnish on the eyes to get the shine worked perfectly. I’m very happy with this Vader as he is my definitive 1977 STAR WARS Darth Vader with all the right details and accessories and overall look. Thanks for having a look, I had lots of fun taking photos as usual! Please wait... |
