Now to cap off (pun intended) my MCU Avengers OG6 list, the first Avenger but the last OG6 member to appear in the films, we have Captain America! For this one, I wanted a Cap who has gripping hands for both his shield and gun. I started this during a time when the Worthy Cap was at its hype high so the stores or sellers that had them sold them for more than double the regular Marvel Legends price. With that, I was left with the only Cap with two gripping hands which was easily available and cheap on the secondary market – the Infinity War Nomad Cap. The glaring issue with the Nomad Cap was that its star and some parts of the chest were sculpted in a way to make it look battle damaged. I didn’t want that so I added padding and a new star on the chest made from faux leather. This was easier than trying to copy the chain mail look of the classic Cap and Worthy Cap. Another concern was the uneven look of his arms due to one having gloves while the other didn’t. I used faux leather to for the glove cuffs. Aside from the fists and shield/gun-gripping hands, I threw in extra Iron Fist hands for salute and shield-throwing poses. Now for the heads, luckily, the store where I bought the Nomad Cap had an Endgame flashback Cap head for sale as well so I bought it for it to be the default Cap head of this figure. I also got an Age of Ultron Cap head as well as a Winter Soldier Steve head from a Coulson set that I bought from my friend (along with other heads as a bonus). With that, I planned to have a regular Cap head, a clean cut Steve head, a bearded Nomad head, and a bearded helmeted Cap head. But with the thought that this figure could borrow the Thor figure’s Mjolnir, I could actually make a Worthy Cap head with “glowing” white eyes. So instead of a bearded Helmeted head, I turned it into a Worthy Cap Head. For the regular head, I added a chinstrap as I prefer that militaristic look over the superhero look of the flashback Cap. For the Steve and Nomad heads, I gave them a more realistic skin tone but with a more comic look blonde hair (and beard). For the Worthy Cap, I painted the eyes white and added extended helmet wings. I also added the vest from a ROML Cap which I painted red and added thumb tacks for the Thor look. These choices for the Worthy Cap helmet and vest were made to give him a mixed military and mystical look. For the final look, I wanted to make his colors pop out since the Nomad Cap looked dark (and dirty I guess). I mixed a blue that was somewhat closer to the flashback Cap which was a bit brighter than the later costumes Cap wore. I painted the dark red parts with a more vibrant red. I also added white accents to give the figure a more balanced color palette (since the only white parts he had were on the abdomen area). Now for the iconic shield, I used the one from the ROML Cap but removed the clamp/peg part and added faux leather pieces that can be easily held and worn by the figure to give it a more realistic look. The gun came from a Toybiz movie version Punisher. The Mjolnir and lighting effects were borrowed from my Thor custom. And with that, my version of Captain America is complete! ![]() |
