For the next MCU Avengers OG6 member to debut in the MCU (albeit in a short cameo in Thor), we have Hawkeye! Now this might seem like a simple custom but this Hawkeye actually is composed of multiple parts. He is mostly an Endgame Ronin figure (without the vest) with a quantum suit Clint head. I added gray accents on his torso and added faux leather as his chest armor and painted it purple. For some reason, I wasn’t able to make the purple pop out as much as I wanted it to but I’m okay with its subtle final look. So I wanted a modern comic look for this guy so I replaced the sleeved Ronin arms with the arms from a Toybiz Marvel Legends Series 6 Wolverine (the brown costume). Although it might seem to be on the bigger side, I guess he should have muscular arms given his proficiency with the bow and arrow (and other hand-held weapons). I then threw in Erik Killmonger’s hands so he can grip his signature weapon. I then added his arm guards using faux leather and painted the hands to complete the archer look. Now usually, Clint only has one arm guard but I’m taking the characteristic of him being ambidextrous so that’s why I gave him arm guards on both hands. Now an unforeseen issue with the Ronin figure is that mine had really soft knees. I wonder why they chose this softer plastic material for knee joints which should’ve been sturdy for playing and posing. Another issue is that I was moving a way from the Ronin look so I had to ditch the shin guards as well. Luckily, I still have an ROML Punisher so I took its knees, shins, and boots to complete my Hawkeye. After painting boots black with purple accents, the figure itself was almost good to go. After painting a uniform skin tone, I decided to go for a full comic look by painting his hair a bright blonde as well instead of having the darker hair color of the MCU Clint. Now for the accessories, the Ronin figure I got was loose and came with the bow and the quantum suit head (which I got for a reasonable price). The only thing missing are the arrows and his quiver. For the arrows, I took them from a Toybiz Legolas figure and painted them black and purple (again, the purple didn’t come out as bright as I would’ve liked but meh, at least it doesn’t look LOTR anymore). His quiver is made from faux leather and garter so that it can easily be removed like a back pack. I also made it into such a way that the quiver can shift left and right, depending on where his bow is held. As a finishing touch, I removed the plastic bow “string” and replaced it with interchangeable wire strings (one resting and the other stretched) for better poses. Now I didn’t want to waste the masked Ronin head so I painted purple over the gold accents. As for the Ronin vest, I found it to be a cool and detailed accessory but it severely limits the ab articulation. I instead made a new vest using garters to allow articulation. I took inspiration from the classic Hawkeye design and added purple accents on the side. This plus the masked head is supposedly a mix between classic Hawkeye and Ronin but it ended up looking more like a Mortal Kombat ninja character but I still like the extra costume options so I kept them. And with that, my version of Hawkeye is complete! ![]() |
