I wanted to make Mario in his original colors. The figure I used was Ice Mario and repainted his shirt a darker blue. I also replaced his head with one that had a red hat (any red hat Mario will do). Lastly, I replaced his open hands with closed hands (better for brick bashing!) I also repainted his hair black. I included a picture for reference.
