Back in August I bought a large rhinoceros figure for $5 at our local comic con. I used my Dremel to remove the small horn, ears & tail. I applied a base coat of brown/white mixture. Once dry I used a brush on sealer. Added a brown dark gray mixture wash, when dry I added a dark maroon/brown wash. Painted the toenails & horn in tan & sealer. To highlight the toenails & horn I placed dots of Sunburst Yellow & wiped with a damp paper towel. Repeated the process with Dolphin Gray & sealer. Made a “thick” wash of Brown & Pavement to simulate mud. Went heavy on the lower body & dabbed off with a dry paper towel. Originally I had painted the eyes a Dolphin Gray/black mix with a black pupil. But it made the Mudhorn look happy. So I went back to the solid black eye. In total I have about 24hrs into it. (The reason for sealer in between paint & wash is. Acrylic paint can be taken off with water. And a wash is mostly water. To preserve the base coat or any detail I add the sealer in between steps.)
