So, since I had not been rather enthused with the DC Direct/DC Collectibles New 52 Era Earth-2 Superman figure that was produced (mostly due to the slightly elongated neck and the too youthful face on the head), I decided to use the existing body and just slightly tweak it with a better head.
So, to do this figure, I took the aforementioned DC Direct/DC Collectibles New 52 Era Earth-2 Superman figure and using the boil and pop method to remove the hands, existing head, and double ball joint peg that connecting the head with the neck. Next, I used my Dremel to slightly smooth out the top of neck. With the neck smoothed out, I commenced a full repaint of the hands and neck in a home brewed Caucasian paint that would match the head that I had decided on using, followed by 2 generous coats of flat clear. Once the flat clear had dried, I reattached the hands and started working on the head. For the head, I decided on a DC Universe Classics/DC Signature Super Powers 30th Anniversary Superman. Using my Dremel, I hollowed out the inside of the DC Universe Classics/DC Signature Superman head and also sanded down the double ball joint peg into a cylindrical post. Next, I mixed up a small batch of Milliput and jammed it into the newly formed cavity inside the head as well as the small cavity inside the neck. While the Milliput was still soft, I jammed the cylindrical post into the Milliput in both the neck and head to create a set of small holes in the center of the neck and head cavities. Once the Milliput had dried, I test fit the head and neck together with the post, and satisfied with how the head and neck fit together, I glued the head and neck together with some Testors Modeling Cement. Once the modeling cement had fully dried, I did some touch up work on the hair with Flat Black, followed by 2 generous coats of flat clear, and TA-DA...an updated New 52 Earth-2 Superman!!!
