This was a very simple yet effective makeover. The Figure-Rise Standard Dragonball model kits are usually very well made and just need a little TLC to turn them from cheap looking hunks of shiny plastic with no paint to pretty badass accurate representations of their anime counterparts. All it took was a little black wash on the skirt and boots, some paint for the scars and mouths, then some shading for the skin tone topped off with a matte clear coat. That's really all it takes and it looks so much nicer and "premium" than it did before.
