Baurus was the youngest blade accepted into the order, dedicated to protecting the Emperor and those of the Septim bloodline. You’ve probably come across the Blades in Skyrim where they are greatly diminished, but in Oblivion during the main campaign and here is a model example of one. There at the Assassination of the Emperor, Baurus meets the Hero of Kvatch (your character at this point only a prisoner) and after repeated attacks grows to trust you along with the Emperors endorsement of your character. Following the Emperors death the Amulet of Kings is entrusted to you and after finding Jaufree and rescuing Martin you meet Baurus again and in an undercover role track down the Emperors Assassins. If he survives he will reach you some of his combat moves and he remains one of the more iconic characters of the series. For this custom I used a black series Finn figure and then made his arms and legs and torso longer to fit with other 6 inch figures. I used Eomer hands and various fodder parts to build him up then completely sculpted his armour from scratch to the point where you basically can’t see the previous figure underneath besides his neck head and fingers. The sword is a Deadpool one and the shield (which I know you all are going to love being the shield addicts you are haha) was made from a citadel paint dome lid cut out then places onto a piece of plastic that was cut into a circle then the whole thing was completely sculpted over step by step. Then a handle and straps were added and sculpted over to strengthen. The helmet is literally just the ring circular part from a Durnhelm Eowyn helmet placed around the head which was wrapped in clingfilm then the dome was sculpted and then sides stuck on and a back which are just plastic sheets from old figure cases. Then some chainmail from the same Eowyn skirt was taken for the back and the nose guard is also a bit of that cut and shaped. I know what you’re thinking why didn’t I just use her helmet? Well it’s actually too big and flimsy for Finns head as he doesn’t have rubber hair to grip the rubbery vinyl helmet so it doesn’t work and looked stupid so I basically took a circulate from the helm and shortened it st the back then did the sculpting. The chainmail sides are from Haldir and the blue and yellow kilt parts are from a Arwen and a Sherrif if Nottingham. The sash is from a last alliance elf. I used imprinting on the collar then sculpted it using the sheriffs decorative clothes. The hardest thing was keeping articulation in the arms due to the design and getting the pauldrons to stay on as they are elevated. Most of the time a pauldrons can be loose with a bit of rubbery vinyl under the pauldrons and sculpted over but that didn’t work as they are elevated so in the end 4 circles of that were cut out and stuck between each pauldron on each side and stuck to the torso. The legs were imprinted with an Eomer pattern to be similar to their trousers then dry-brushed blue and light blue, the over leg part was imprinted from a Haldir chainmail part. I’ve been working on this figure for almost a year and it was a lot of work and stress but I’m glad it’s finally done. I didn’t want to be lazy so I had to literally painstakingly find pictures of the gauntlets and boots and sculpt from scratch and count the segments in the armour which is like a Japanese Roman style with some Anglo Saxon to it. And of course the accessories meant the return of an old friend... Jerry the Barrel!! Thanks for having a look! ![]() |
