I had a love/hate relationship with this custom. Love the result---hated the process. I think I got a little ahead of myself in taking on this commission (lessons were learned ha) but Im so glad I stuck it out and managed to get it to a finish. What I thought would be a relatively easy figure ended up being one of the hardest I've done just due to trial and error (particularly with the robes). One thing about Star Wars is EVERYONE is in robes/cloaks/capes/flowy layers so working that into a moveable figure can be a challenge when you're figuring it out as you go as I did on this one (I hate soft goods. This is as close as Ill probably come and was the first time I really tried it) This costume choice that my buyer wanted (and most of Padmes) translate into...statues. So it was one of those situations where I chose aesthetic over function. I tried for a torso swivel (and its there) but due to the robes its pretty much locked in place. Took the body from underneath Leia's robes and some spare pvc capes and made the under body pretty much the way she has a dress under her tunic in the real thing. Then using a mix of carefully draped cloth (dipped in watered down glue like paper mache) and sculpting to make the robes/tunic (and then a lot of layers of paint and sealer for a smooth finish) With all the details the airbrush really didn't work like I wanted it to so I ended up having to do the color shifts by hand so it took me extra long. Head is black series Padme and hair is sculpted by me. Thanks for looking! ![]() |
