Next up for my line of custom figures based on 1997's Batman & Robin, a movie that sent chills up fans backs (oh, did I make an ice pun??), is the newly designed Robin played by Chris O'Donnell. Robin annoyed me greatly in this film due to the bad writing, but his new suit was pretty awesome looking...a dash of Nightwing in the design! To make Robin, I used the standard figure from the movie line as the base. I swapped out his weirdly positioned right arm with one from another figure from the Robin/Poison Ivy 2-pack, as well as using the head. I added bat symbols made of styrene plastic to the top of each boot, used sculpy to make his cod piece, nipples, and the area that connects his neck to the cape. I hated the dinky little cape that came on the figure, so I used the Sonar Suit Batman cape from the Batman Forever Guardians of Gotham set. I cut down the neck area, the length, and the extended cape flare, then spray-painted it dark red on the inside. A quick paint job later and I had a massive improvement over the Hasbro original.
