Continuing my collection of custom figures based on the 1990s era Batman film, I offer up the Penguin from Tim Burton's 1992 film Batman Returns. I like the old 5 inch line of figures and wanted my customs to stay in that scale, like something that could have been released at the time. To make Penguin, I used a figure of said character from Kenner's Batman The Animated Series toy line. I sanded away the lips, then cut out a hole where the mouth was and inserted a new snarling mouth from Egyptian Batman from the Legends line. I used epoxy to make a new nose and brow. I cut off the hat and made a new one, with styrene plastic for the rim and epoxy for the top hat. I used Sculpy to make the hair. I crafted the overcoat by gluing cardboard to the figure as a base, the covering it in epoxy. The design of the overcoat was created to allow for arm posability. I sanded away the neck tie and created a movie accurate one out of paper. I resculpted the front of the vest and added buttons with Sculpy. The umbrella is a scale accessory ordered online.
