Here begins my series of custom figures based on the old Batman movies of the 1990s, using the original line of 5 inch figures from that era. First up is Michael Keaton as Batman from the iconic 1989 movie. To make the figure, I used the torso of the 1989 Toybiz Batman, as its musculature was more accurate than the Kenner figure. To get rid of the barrel chested thickness of the torso, I used the backside from the Kenner Dark Knight Collection Batman figure. Cutting apart these figures was difficult, even with the dremel. The metallic gizmo inside really caused problems. After cutting them down to an appropriate size, I moved on to use the arms and legs of the Robin figure from Batman Forever. I assembled the figure after correcting the arm holes to match the Robin arms, then Sculpied the sides and back. The head is from Kenner. I used Epoxy to cover the muscular legs and smooth them out. The utility belt was cut from the Kenner figure, extended around back with Sculpy. The emblem on the chest came from a Batman & Robin movie figure, as did the cape. The front of the cape was sanded down with a Dremel and glued to the body. I then used Sculpy to craft the folded areas going over the shoulders, as well as blending it up to the cowl. The shin guards came from the Toybiz figure, with added Sculpy at the top of the feet. Then I painted the figure. The grappling gun was custom, using some of the accessory from the Toybiz figure.
