About a year ago, I was on vacation and happened into a Walgreens; I found two Medusa figures marked down to $10 a piece and grabbed them for fodder without even having any idea what to use them for. Flash forward a year and I see an ad for the current Guardians of the Galaxy comic, with Nebula on the cover as part of a Dark Guardians team. I realized, hey, I don't have a Nebula for my Fantastic Four/Cosmic shelf, let's fix that. I had spare parts from a Silver Sable I'd gotten for Lilandra, and knew they would look perfect for the version of Nebula I was going for.

Recipe:
Head: "End Game" 2-pack Nebula
Body: Medusa
Belt, pouches, shoulder straps, gun: Silver Sable

Despite not being film accurate, I do like the "End Game" team suit 2-pack available at Target, and ended up getting an extra one to build the team. In doing so, I had an extra Nebula head, which is perfect, because like most comics these days, the tail wags the dog, and they're constantly updating characters to look more like their movie counterparts (which I'm fine with in this case, as I do love Karen Gillan). I felt that the Nebula likeness was a little soft, and not 100% Karen, which actually works more for what I'm going for.

I Dremeled down the elbow and shoulder joints to reduce paint rub, and painted the upper arms and head a matching light blue (I mixed dark blue, teal and a little white for this color). I painted the center of her belt orange. I then mixed red with a little purple for her thigh pouches so that they would better match her gloves and boots.

I wanted to bring out more of the cybernetic details of her head sculpt, so I gave the circuitry a dark blue paint wash.

This was originally only to be a simple kitbash, but I'm glad I decided to go the extra mile with her. She's one of my favorite MCU characters, and I do really enjoy reading her in the comics, as well (it probably helps that my favorite writer, Roger Stern, created her during his legendary Avengers run). I'm glad to have her on my shelf, and she looks great with her teammate Gladiator; here's hoping for Cosmic Ghost Rider next (please Hasbro?)!
