Hello all! Short and simple entry today. To go along with my continuing set of 1987 animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I made some modifications to the Playmates TMNT Classics Bebop and Rocksteady. Nothing that hasn't been done before, here. The TMNT Classics were great sculpts, and the articulation was even pretty decent, but they lacked in the "cartoon accuracy" department, for some reason. Rocksteady's camo pants were blue and green instead of tan and black, and he was missing the sheath for his combat knife on his back. Meanwhile, Bebop was wearing blue jeans instead of his traditional black, and he lacked the metal leg brace on his left thigh. Additionally, some paint apps that were on the original prototypes and promo photos were left off the final release. Naturally, I corrected all these oversights. I did NOT add Bebop's rat-tail to the back of his mohawk, as it would have been fragile and restricted his already limited head articulation. On the flip side, Rocksteady is only supposed to have a turtle shell on his right hip, but I left the one on his left side as well, because I simply saw no reason to get rid of it. I did, however, give them each their makeshift shields from the original 1980s figures, updated of course. Both Rocksteady's manhole cover shield and Bebop's trashcan lid shield were made using WWE accessories. Also, because I bought my pair of figures second-hand, Rocksteady did not come with his knife, so I replaced it with a 1/6 scale military kabar knife, which scaled well as Rocksteady's massive combat machete.
