Dr. Derek Bright constantly seeks to improve his inventions and himself. He's always devising a new gadget and he continuously reads self help books. After his legs were injured in a mining accident (he is technically handicapped), Dr. Bright designed and built the explorations suits worn by the Earth Corps. He refuses to be left behind and usually leads the charge into danger.

Dr. Bright's exploration suit is an electrically powered, computer-assisted exoskeleton equipped with several offensive weapons. It has been tested to withstand a concussive force equal to 50 pounds of TNT. Fully-insulated and pressure-regulated, the suit can withstand external temperature variations from 100 - 4000 degrees Fahrenheit. The suit's large, claw-like shovels are capable of lifting 500 lbs and can tear through virtually any substance.
